2018 Met Gala: Jaimie Nicole Style

Hello everyone! As some of you may know, this past weekend one of fashions most anticipated events took place. We are talking about the Met Gala of course!  This is one red carpet that we await with such excitement, because you know all of our favorite stars are going to slay, and this year was absolutely no different. Every year the Costume Institute chooses a theme for this fabulous fundraiser and celebrities are expected to dress accordingly. This year’s theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” This fundraiser has been around for many years and we would like to recap some of its history and memorable moments. The Costume Institute Benefit—also known as The Met Gala—began in 1948 as a midnight supper that invited guests could attend for fifty dollars a ticket. The brainchild of publicity doyenne Eleanor Lambert, who dubbed it the "Party of the Year," the event raised funds to support The Costume Institute and celebrated the opening of its major annual exhibition. Since then, the benefit has grown in size, scope, and profile, and remains the vitally important main source of funding for the department's exhibitions, acquisitions, and capital improvements. In 1995 Anna Wintour—editor-in-chief of Vogue, and a Met Trustee—took over as co-chair and has overseen the party ever since (excluding the 1996 and 1998 events). This year marks Wintour's twentieth gala, and she has built the event into one of the most visible and successful fundraisers in the world, drawing guests from the worlds of fashion, film, society, sports, business, and music. Held on the first Monday in May, the party is sometimes referred to as the "Oscars of the East Coast" or the "Super Bowl of Fashion." So of course, here at Jaimie Nicole we are constantly on the lookout for amazing jewelry inspiration and there were so many stunning pieces that caught our eye. We picked our top pieces and will show you how you can rock these trends, Jaimie Nicole style! Drop earrings: A big trend that we noticed on this years red carpet were drop earrings. Zoe Kravitz and Kendall Jenner were spotted rocking some gorgeous drop earrings that you can easily recreate in a much more budget friendly way. To get Zoe’s teardrop inspired look, go with our green onyx and lapis drop earring. This earring is a great way to dress up any look and add a touch glamour. This earring is available in a variety of different colors on our website. If you love sparkle like Kendall does, you will absolutely adore our starburst drop earring! This earring is available in sterling silver or vermeil. Regal looks: Gorgeous colors and over the top gold accessories were all the rage on the Met Gala red carpet this year. As you can see in Blake Lively’s look, her dress is filled with beautiful saturated colors such as ruby, turquoise and we can’t forget the stunning gold accents. Her stacked gold bracelets are reminiscent of our signature sets of six. We refer to them as our modern take on the classic bangle. Our sets of six are perfect for when you are just starting a stack because they aren’t too overwhelming yet make a statement all on their own! You can gradually add to your stack by choosing more personalized charm bracelets that fit your personality! These charm bracelets make great gifts as well. Pearls: If you know anything about Jaimie Nicole, then you know we love our pearls! This was another big trend that was sprinkled throughout the red carpet. We saw beautiful pearl earrings, pearl chokers, and even veils! Translate this trend to your every day look by going on our website and simply searching “pearl”. You will love the selection! We recommend our classic pearl cubic zirconia and chain drop earrings for an elegant update to any outfit. Another great piece that can be worn in multiple ways is our pyrite with pearl and cubic zirconia lariat necklace, also available in black spinel. This piece is so versatile and is guaranteed to become a staple in your wardrobe in no time!   That’s it for our Met Gala recap. We hope you enjoyed this jewelry inspiration and hope to see you in our showroom soon! We are open from 10 am to 5 pm every weekday and located at 4649 Ponce de Leon Blvd suite 305. Happy shopping! Xo, Jaimie Nicole
