International Women’s Month: Celebrating YOU All Month Long

Hello lovely ladies! Here at Jaimie Nicole we are so excited to be celebrating International Women’s month with all of you. Being a company built by strong women, we support each and every one of you. In honor of this, we will be profiling four iconic women and the jewelry that they have worn over the years.   Jackie Kennedy Onassis is a fashion icon that will always be revered for her timeless and classy sense of style. Jackie Kennedy remains one of the most popular First Ladies of all time. She was featured 27 times on the annual Gallup list of the top 10 most admired people of the second half of the 20th century. In 2011, she was ranked in fifth place in a list of the five most influential First Ladies of the twentieth century for her profound effect on American society. In her role as First Lady, Kennedy preferred to wear clean-cut suits with a skirt hem down to middle of the knee, three-quarter sleeves on notch-collar jackets, sleeveless A-line dresses, above-the-elbow gloves, low-heel pumps, and pillbox hats. Dubbed the "Jackie" look, these clothing items quickly became fashion trends in the Western world. More than any other First Lady, her style was copied by commercial manufacturers and a large segment of young women. Now we all know that with great style comes great accessories. Jackie was a big fan of pearls and if she was alive today, we have a few Jaimie Nicole pieces that we know would be staples in her wardrobe. We can envision her rocking our pearl and cubic zirconia adjustable cluster ring. This ring brings an element of understated glamour and elegance to any look.   Another unforgettable style icon we cannot leave out is Iris Apfel. Like Jackie O, she has left her mark on the fashion world.  Born in Queens in 1921, Apfel has worked in just about every aspect of the industry, including a stint at Women's Wear Daily, design restoration projects at the White House for nine presidents, and her very own line of accessories. Through it all, Apfel has made a name for herself as one of style's true eccentrics. Never one to skimp on accessories, Apfel is known for her layered jewels, feather stoles, and, of course, her signature round, black-rimmed glasses. Our turquoise bezel stud with gold hoop earrings couldn’t be more her. These unique earrings are great because you can remove the studs and wear them by themselves or add any post back earring to the hoop part and make it all your own!   We can’t discuss fashion icons without including the infamous Marilyn Monroe. Norma Jean Baker Mortenson, her given name, began her career as a model and later became one of the most iconic American actresses of the 1950s with such films as Niagara, in 1952, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, in 1953 and The Seven Year Itch, in 1954.  This sexy blonde loved her diamonds and even coined the quote “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” She is sure to have loved our 14k gold filled multi cubic zirconia charm choker necklace. This beaded choker is perfect to bring a little sparkle to a casual day time outfit or would be amazing paired with something a little dressier. Style tip: this choker is also available in sterling silver or rose gold. Layer these with the gold to create a beautiful multi-faceted look! Finally, in our list of fashion heavy hitters is the beautiful Elizabeth Taylor. Taylor collected jewelry throughout her life and owned the 33.19-carat (6.638 g) Krupp Diamond the 69.42-carat (13.884 g) Taylor-Burton diamond, and the 50-carat (10 g) La Peregrina Pearl, formerly owned by Mary I of England. It’s safe to say that this stylish lady loved her jewelry! She also published a book about her collection, My Love Affair with Jewelry in 2002, which we proudly have on display in the Jaimie Nicole showroom. Not only was she glamorous, but she also had a huge heart and a social conscience. As per her wishes, after she passed away her jewelry and fashion collections were auctioned by Christie’s to benefit her AIDS foundation, ETAF. The jewelry sold for a record-breaking sum of $156.8 million and the clothes and accessories for a further $5.5 million. We believe The Gaby Stack is perfect for her! Made of cubic zirconia, sparkle never looked so good. With The Gaby Stack by Jaimie Nicole, you’re getting the ultimate versatility. You’ll want to throw on these bracelet stacks wherever you go. Available in 14k gold filled, rose gold and sterling silver. This stack of bracelets features an incredible sparkle that will follow you around town.
